Training Resources Module 4
Communicating with Parents / Carers
Communicating with Parents and Carers Seminar
For all levels – This seminar concentrates on communication strategies that research identifies as successful in working with resistant service users. It will look at the relational social work model and how it can contribute to improving communication from an organisational, team and individual level. It will look at the various forms used to communicate with adults and carers currently and consider which are the most effective in addressing some of the key issues such as poor literacy, English as a second language, cultural differences, power imbalances and interpreting legislation and formal documents in a child friendly way.
This seminar is open to all participants and can include multi-agency partners. It concentrates on assessment as a task rather than on any specific form of assessment and is intended to apply broadly across the spectrum of assessments carried out in Children’s Services.
