Module 1 Seminar

For all levels – this seminar outlines the latest research and direction of travel within children’s services in the use of assessment to understand a child and families need. This seminar will set the scene for the following workshops.

This seminar is open to all participants and can include multi-agency partners. It concentrates on assessment as a task rather than on any specific form of assessment and is intended to apply broadly across the spectrum of assessments carried out in Children’s Services.

Understanding Risk and Resilience in Adolescents

This course aims to place the concept of risk and resilience within the framework of intervening with young people and their families and other agencies.

It will develop a shared understanding of risk and resilience and in consider ways to succesfully carry out assessment that promote the understanding and management of risk

It will support participants to identify and build on young people's resilience and to consider the risk factors within a framework of the whole person.

It will enable practitioners to consider different approaches for managing and minimising risky behaviour and situations that young people may be involved in.
