At Child Centred Practice we are able to provide high quality independent assessments to enable parents, carers, Courts, and other agencies to make appropriate decisions for children. Our qualified and experienced social workers have many years experience working in the court arena.

Our assessments fully utilise the National Assessment Framework, integrating theory, research, and practice knowledge to provide comprehensive assessments in both private and public law cases.

Jo Fox, BA BSW

Jo has worked with children and young people over the past twenty years. She has held social worker and manager posts in Children’s Services, carried out assessments for child protection court work, and fostering and adoption assessments under the BAAF framework. Her management posts focussed on workforce development and change management.

Jo has also worked as a support worker in a private fostering agency, a residential officer in a respite care home for disabled children, a court officer for the Director of Family Services and a counsellor in primary and high school settings.

Jo excels at therapeutic family assessments, using ICS effectively as a recording tool, and using the Assessment Framework to produce high quality assessments for children and their families. Key areas of focus include change management, understanding significant harm in assessment, motivating people to change, using the Common Assessment Framework and Integrated Working.

Jo’s commitment to improving outcomes for children has assisted clients to improve their child focused outcomes both in the UK and overseas. Her thriving consultancy business also delivers high quality result focussed training for managers and practitioners.

Fareena Shaheed, MSc DipSW

Fareena has twenty years’ experience in social work in both statutory and non-statutory settings, and has a wealth of experience of the Family Court System, having been first a practitioner and then a manager in Cafcass, managing Family Court Advisers and Children’s Guardians in public and private law cases.

In addition to undertaking child protection and court assessments in the Local Authority, Fareena has worked with Independent Fostering Agencies, completing assessments of prospective carers in accordance with the BAAF framework. Her professional experience and perceptive approach has assisted Local Authorities, providing astute consultation in very complex cases.

Fareena’s areas of expertise include undertaking assessments and report writing, making use of research and evidence informed practice and working in the Family Court System. Her key areas of focus when training are QA/Performance Management and Practice Development.

Fee structure

Professional time per hour: £60.00

Travelling time per hour: £20.00 

Mileage £0.45p per mile. 

Accommodation/train fares etc are charged at cost.
